BRIGADEIROS


Brigadeiro (Portuguese for Brigadier; also known in some southern Brazilian states as negrinho, literally "blackie") is a simple Brazilian chocolate bonbon, created in the 1940s and named after Brigadier Eduardo Gomes. It is a very popular candy in Brazil and in Portugal and it is usually served at birthday parties.

Ingredients
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 tbsp cocoa or O'Boy
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Chocolate sprinkles
  • Approximately 30 pieces small candy cups

Method
  1. In a medium pan cook the condensed milk, cocoa or O´Boy and butter over medium heat, stirring continuously, until it thickens enough to show the pan bottom during stirring.
  2. Pour the mixture on a plate and let it cool in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour until firm. 
  3. Now you are ready to form the little balls. Remember to grease your hands with butter first! 
  4. Roll the balls over the chocolate sprinkles, then place them in the candy cups.
